Academic Standards Policy
The Academic Standards and Progress Policy applies to all students enrolled in credit courses earned through 皇家华人 College. Students who have either a term and/or cumulative grade point average (GPA) below a 2.0 are placed on academic standards. The goal is to ensure undergraduates students complete their degree and/or certificate programs in a timely manner in order to make the most efficient use of instructional resources, and provide capacity within the institituon for additional students.
In 2019-2020, 皇家华人 College placed a hold on the suspension process as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting fall of 2024 the college will be implenting the suspension process for all students.
The academic standards progress and policy has been established in accordance with RCW 28B.10.695.
**This is not Financial Aid Suspension!** If you are using Financial Aid and have questions or concerns about Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP), contact the Financial Aid Office at (253) 288-3392 OR in person in SA-231 to learn how your grades may impact your eligibility.
Academic Standing Status
Good | Overall GPA above 2.0 and current term GPA above 2.0 |
Warning | Overall GPA falls below 2.0 OR term GPA is less than 2.0 |
Intervention | Overall GPA remains below 2.0 for a second consecutive quarter OR term GPA is less than 2.0 |
Probation | Overall GPA remains below 2.0 for the third consecutive quarter OR term GPA is less than 2.0 |
Suspension | Overall GPA remains below 2.0 OR term GPA is less than 2.0 for multiple consecutive quarters |

Warning means you are NOT blocked from registering, however you are recommended to meet with your advisor.
Intervention means you are blocked from registering, please review academic standing status table above.
To remove this block students must complete these steps:
- Sign up and complete the assessment
- You will recieve instructions on how to complete assessment
- Complete
- Schedule an appointment with your advisor
- Remove block and talk about classes
Probation means you are blocked from registering, please review academic standing status table above.
To remove this block students must complete these steps:
- StrengthsQuest (SQ) must be completed (required)
- Complete
- Schedule an appointment with your advisor
- Remove block and talk about classes
Students are encouraged to:
- Learn about campus resources (See Below)
- Attend a success workshop (See Below)
Suspension mean you are blocked from registering and cannot take any classes at 皇家华人 for one quarter.
After one or more quarters, students must:
- Connect with the Office of the Registrar to reactivate your account (if applicable)
- Schedule an appointment with your advisor
If you would like to appeal, students must:
- Complete and submit appeal form
Once the form has been submitted, the committee will review and approve or deny the appeal. If approved,schedule an appointment with your advisor.
