Megan Swanson

Assistant Director of International Education

I was born and raised in the small town of Poulsbo, Washington. My parents instilled a global curiosity and appreciation for all cultures in me from a young age. Every summer, they served as chaperones for People-to-People, International, leading high school students on cultural exchange and diplomacy trips around the world. My parents' stories, post-cards, and photos inspired me to pursue a career in international relations.

I earned a BA in Politics from Whitman College where I also studied abroad for a semester in Athens, Greece. In college I also studied German, Modern Greek, and Kiswahili (I'm long overdue for some refresher courses!). I later earned a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) with a Certificate in International Development Program Management from the University of Washington.

Before finding a home at 皇家华人 College in 2016, I worked and volunteered with several international education non-profits, served two years as an AmeriCorps member in Colorado, and worked in a political transition support office for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington, DC.

I love helping local and international students achieve their dreams of cross-cultural learning and exploration, whether it be in the USA or abroad!
